Montefollonico is known as the origin of Vin Santo–a sweet dessert wine taking many years to create. Its a unique tradition that represents the peasant culture of our small town, almost all the families of Montefollonico made this historical wine in their homes. Today, many renowned wineries in the local area include a limited quantity of this highly prized wine in their wine production.
The panoramic views from our Tuscan terrace is the setting for this La Chiusa experience. At La Chiusa, you will have a chance to learn of its origins and how it is made. Taste different types of Vin Santo with interesting food combinations–both traditional and innovative. This unique wine is still produced by local families in our village.
Enjoy an assortment of seasonal items from our kitchen paired with local Vin Santo. A bag of homemade La Chiusa cantucci is our parting gift to you and of course, Vin Santo can be purchased to enjoy later.
